Removing rear headrests

Just the two of us…

By chance I found this super handy adjustment for you California on YouTube. I’ve always found it a hassle to fold those headrests away in the backseat every day, even though you don’t need them! Not even for the MOT (APK in Dutch), so I have read, but I don’t know if that is the same in every country, please check for yourself!

It took me about 30 minutes to do the job, it’s easy.

  • Tip 1: You don’t necessarily need a saw to remove the plastic ‘lugs’ from the side covers, a sturdy Stanley knife will also work fine!
  • Tip 2: Bend those plastic side covers carefully away, I broke one in half, it may have become brittle. Which wasn’t a problem, a little glue was enough, but still…
  • Tip 3: Put a little glue on the plastic sides when you place them back, so they won’t rattle anymore.
  • Tip 4: Drill a small hole in the wooden dowel, if you ever want to remove them again, all you have to do is screw in a screw.
