Like so many others, the bendy (Hella) rooflight has now snapped. It snapped where the metal bendy shaft is glued into the plastic mounting bracket and seems not repairable. Replacing it with the same model (in NL it’s much cheaper…) seems at most a temporary solution before it breaks again. I replaced the reading lamp with the Osram Onyx Copilot.
The advantages are:
- It is LED, so it is more economical and does not get hot
- The screw holes are in the same place, so very easy to replace
- The construction is less heavy, it seems to have less to endure. But time will tell.
Note: it does give significantly less light than the original lamp, but I don’t find that is a problem.
